Job Description: 

Palliser Sales Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Red Seal Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of agricultural or heavy equipment. This role requires an individual with strong technical skills, a passion for working with large machinery, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural or heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, combines, loaders, excavators, and more. 

- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to identify issues and perform repairs. 

- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to ensure the equipment operates at optimal efficiency. 

- Test and operate repaired equipment to verify repairs are successful. 

- Keep detailed records of service work, including parts used and hours worked on equipment. 

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations. 

- Use specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals to conduct repairs. 

- Assist in training apprentices and provide mentorship where necessary. 

 

Qualifications: 

- Certification as an Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician. 

- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical systems. 

- Proficiency with diagnostic software and specialized tools. 

- Excellent understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems. 

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality repairs. 

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. 

- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. 

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

 

 Preferred Skills: 

- Basic welding and fabrication skills are an asset. 

- Familiarity with computerized inventory and work order systems. 

 

Physical Requirements 

- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 60-70 lbs). 

- Standing, walking, bending, and crouching for extended periods. 

- Ability to work in varying weather conditions as needed.

The Yukon Agricultural Association (YAA) is seeking an experienced, strategic leader to serve as its next Executive Director. The ideal candidate brings strong association management, government relations, and agriculture policy expertise, along with a deep understanding of the unique opportunities and challenges of farming in the Yukon.

 

YAA represents a diverse and growing community of dedicated producers. Working closely with territorial and federal partners, we advance policies, programs, and infrastructure that support a resilient, profitable, and sustainable agriculture sector.

 

Responsibilities

- Strategic leadership: Guide YAA’s long‑term direction with the Board, support effective governance, and align organizational priorities, planning, and policy development.
- Policy and advocacy: Monitor emerging issues, coordinate member input, lead regulatory engagement, and represent YAA on committees, working groups, and advisory bodies.
- Stakeholder relations: Build strong relationships with government, industry partners, and territorial associations while cultivating member consensus on policy and advocacy positions.
- Communications: Ensure clear, consistent communication with members and stakeholders; oversee newsletters, website, social media, and public communications.
- Events and programs: Plan and deliver the AGM, workshops, producer gatherings, and sector‑building initiatives.
- Operations and finance: Oversee administration, volunteers, contractors, budgeting, forecasting, grants, bookkeeping, and organizational risk management.

 

Qualifications

Required

- 5+ years in agriculture, agri‑food, nonprofit leadership, or a related sector.
- Yukon residency with regular in‑person hours at the YAA office in Whitehorse (hybrid options available for other Yukon communities).
- Willingness to travel territorially and nationally (~10%).

 

Highly Valued

- Executive leadership in multi‑stakeholder environments.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Experience working with government, growers, and sector associations.
- Understanding of policy processes, governance, and financial management.
- Experience in member‑based or nonprofit organizations.

We are seeking a high-energy Junior Grain Buyer / Originator to join our procurement team. In this role, you will be the critical link between North American farmers and our global export pipeline. You will be responsible for "pounding the pavement" (and the phones) to secure grain supplies, managing producer relationships, and ensuring our containerized export programs are fully serviced with high-quality commodities.

Key Responsibilities

- Procurement & Originating: Proactively contact producers to purchase grains, oilseeds, and cereals. You will manage the full "buy" cycle, from initial price discovery to contract execution.


- Relationship Management: Build and maintain a loyal network of producers across your designated region. You aren't just buying grain; you’re building long-term partnerships.


- Containerized Export Support: Work closely with our logistics and trade teams to ensure grain is sourced and delivered to meet specific international shipping windows and container loading schedules.


- Market Intelligence: Stay current on local basis levels, international demand, and commodity futures to provide accurate marketing advice to growers.


- Quality Control: Educate producers on the stringent quality and documentation standards required for Identity Preserved (IP) and food-grade exports.

Qualifications & Skills

- Education: Degree or Diploma in Agribusiness, Agriculture, or a related Business field.
