Job Description: 

Palliser Sales Ltd is seeking a highly skilled Red Seal Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician to join our team. You will be responsible for diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining a wide variety of agricultural or heavy equipment. This role requires an individual with strong technical skills, a passion for working with large machinery, and a commitment to safety and efficiency. 

 

Key Responsibilities: 

- Diagnose, repair, and maintain agricultural or heavy-duty equipment, including tractors, combines, loaders, excavators, and more. 

- Troubleshoot mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems to identify issues and perform repairs. 

- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and repairs to ensure the equipment operates at optimal efficiency. 

- Test and operate repaired equipment to verify repairs are successful. 

- Keep detailed records of service work, including parts used and hours worked on equipment. 

- Maintain a clean and safe work environment, adhering to all safety protocols and regulations. 

- Use specialized tools, diagnostic equipment, and technical manuals to conduct repairs. 

- Assist in training apprentices and provide mentorship where necessary. 

 

Qualifications: 

- Certification as an Agriculture Equipment Technician or Heavy Equipment Technician. 

- Minimum 4 years of experience with agricultural or heavy-duty equipment. 

- Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to diagnose complex mechanical and electrical systems. 

- Proficiency with diagnostic software and specialized tools. 

- Excellent understanding of hydraulic, electrical, and powertrain systems. 

- Strong attention to detail and a commitment to quality repairs. 

- Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and schematics. 

- Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record. 

- Ability to work independently or as part of a team in a fast-paced environment. 

  Preferred Skills: 

- Basic welding and fabrication skills are an asset. 

- Familiarity with computerized inventory and work order systems. 

 

Physical Requirements 

- Ability to lift heavy parts and equipment (up to 60-70 lbs). 

- Standing, walking, bending, and crouching for extended periods. 

- Ability to work in varying weather conditions as needed.

This permanent full-time role reports to the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) and plays a key part in accurate financial reporting, strong internal controls, and compliance with IFRS and CRA requirements.
 
About the Role
The Controller helps oversee day-to-day accounting operations, prepares and reviews financial statements, and contributes to budgeting and internal control processes. You will manage direct reports, work closely with the CFO and management to provide timely financial insights, and support decision-making and continuous improvement.
 
Key Responsibilities
 
- Uphold the company’s vision, values, and expectations in all duties and professional conduct.
- Comply with all government, legal, and company policies and regulations.
- Prepare and review monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Provide month-end financial reports and analysis for management review.
- Establish and monitor internal controls, support internal and external audits, and ensure compliance with GAAP/IFRS standards.
- Review financial accounts and records; prepare and file GST/HST, QST, PST, and other statutory filings.
- Oversee accounts payable and receivable, journal entries, fixed asset tracking, and customer/vendor aging; analyze financial data for management insights.
- Support budgeting, forecasting, variance analysis, and financial planning in collaboration with the CFO.
- Safeguard company assets by reviewing internal controls and recommending improvements.
- Liaise with auditors and regulators and assist with implementing process enhancements.
- Prepare ad hoc financial reports and analysis as requested by senior management.
- Drive continuous improvement and cost-reduction initiatives within the finance function.
- Manage and mentor direct reports to ensure team performance and development.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all financial and personnel information.
- Research accounting issues as needed to ensure compliance with generally accepted accounting principles.

 
Qualifications
 
- University degree in accounting; preference for candidates with a Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA) designation or near completion.
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including supervisory responsibilities with direct reports.
- Proficiency with financial software (e.g., Sage, Agtech) and advanced Excel skills.
- Strong analytical and critical-thinking skills with the ability to make sound decisions and implement internal policies and processes.
- Ability to interpret and analyze large volumes of financial data accurately.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and manage a team effectively.

Compensation and Benefits:
Compensation will be competitive and aligned with market rates for Controllers (NOC 10010) in Ontario, taking into account experience and qualifications.

Base Salary Range: $115,000 - $125,000

Position Summary:

The Farm Safety Officer is responsible for leading all aspects of farm and food safety, regulatory compliance, and sustainability coordination in partnership with the Oxford Food Group’s Sustainability Manager. The role ensures compliance with occupational health and safety legislation, GlobalG.A.P., food safety standards, and internal policies, while fostering a strong safety culture across farm operations.

This position drives continuous improvement in health and safety programs, food safety systems, and employee training. Key responsibilities include developing and maintaining health and safety policies, leading the toolbox talk program, participating in the Joint Occupational Health and Safety Committee, Farm Wast Tracker, and conducting inspections, hazard analyses, risk assessments, and audits with corrective action planning.

The Farm Safety Manager also works closely with Human Resources to support WCB claims management, return-to-work programs, and related occupational health and safety initiatives.

 

Work Environment & Physical Requirements:

- On-site office and agriculture environment.
- Exposure to external climate conditions.
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.

 

Qualifications & Experience:

- Diploma or degree in Agriculture, Environmental Science, Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, or related field.
- 3–5+ years of experience in agricultural compliance, food safety, or farm operations management.
- Experience or knowledge in the following items would be considered an asset,
- Working knowledge of Global GAP requirements and certification processes.
- Strong understanding of OH&S legislation and safety program management.
- Experience conducting audits and managing corrective actions.
- Proficiency with farm management systems and document control platforms.
- Certification in COR, CRSP, CHSC, HACCP, or related credentials.
